It can be a snake stone which doesnt glow, but a true nagmani cannot be a nag mani without its glow.
So beware of FAKES Available in the market, which are sold just by this property that they glow in the dark. Cheap PV Plastic pebbles made for gardening purpose imported from china for pavements to glow in the night and for children to play are very common in the market. They come in various colors, but these PV Glowing Plastic Pebbles doesnt have any light absorption properties. It is just because of a chemical treatment it glows indefinately in the dark or at night. But a true naagmani cannot glow for indefinate time as the snake also does the same thing. It opens its mouth and let it absorb the sunlight at the max and use that charge to emitt light in the dark at night for attracting and catching its prey. Hence, these PV Plastic Pebbles doesnt have any light absorption property. Few people from asian region and in pune city, got confused and duped by cheap stuff dealers by claiming this plastic material as nagmani. The real Naag Mani emits pale green light, but there are other types of snake stones which are opaque and doesn’t emit light. So this is not necessary that a translucent-to-opaque mani is only the real one, but the opaque one is called snake stone, not naag mani. True naag mani is the one which absorbs light, emitts light in the dark and glows.
